2:03
appreciate you being here today thanks for having us yeah thanks for having us awesome so today we have um Scott otwell
2:10
and Chris Knight from pulseology and we always talk about this we just talked about this is the whole
2:17
point of our show is to bring the lifestyle of the Low Country because it's more than just buying a house in
2:23
this location it is about embracing this way of life and one of the things you're very much a part of our life especially
2:32
with thank you for keeping him busy for us all the time that's right so we're going to Dive Right In and you know
2:39
let's talk about pulseology because one of the things that we love is on your website you say that you want to
2:45
redefine quality of life and that sounds very ambitious so why don't you share with us a little bit about pulsy and
2:51
that philosophy yeah sure so pulsy redefining quality of life specifically is definitely a tagline that
2:58
encapsulates what we're our VIs or what we're looking for um redef finding quality of life meaning everyone that
3:03
comes we have a lots of different people for different walks of life that come to pulsy whether
3:09
it's in the morning or afternoon and it's not about just weight loss or just body transformation it's it's more of a
3:14
place that you can go and change your entire outlook on life and it's not exercising necessarily just for those
3:21
things before but maybe it's just to continue to go up the stairs or to cook dinner or to just move around at the
3:27
same level that you are today that you can still do in 10 years from now yeah yeah so uh with that when you so do you
3:35
find that people is that when they come here are you having to like bring them
3:41
to that mind bring that mindset to them are they coming in looking for that do they even know they want that I think
3:47
sometimes it develops I think sometimes you know it might start out that they're just trying to regain a little bit of Mobility or you know being able to reach
3:54
something off a shelf and maybe they don't they come in and they don't have the shoulder Mobility for it but as we
3:59
have physical therapy and massage therapy and many mo with personal trainers to help get them from that
4:05
first starting point and then maybe their goals change and they want to become you know something they never thought they could yeah better and
4:11
stronger so it definitely develops more so that than anything else because it is it's the culture that's established
4:16
there and so once they get into it maybe they're coming for one of those reasons like Chris said and then after they're there and they experience the other
4:22
people they're there and kind of feed off of that then it turns into just something you look forward to each day so it's like a community the community
4:28
is helping each other yeah and I think that aspect is is um
4:34
it's amazing and I take it for granted sometimes I have to stop and like look around and be present in the moment and realize that all these different people
4:41
every different parts of the country different languages different but everyone gets along everyone once they come there they have that same thing in
4:47
common that they're all there to get better and fix something or they all talk about it too yeah so they might train for a while but then some of the
4:54
time they might stop at the desk and hang out and let them know hey I accomplished this or it might be just talking about the game last it's it's
5:00
pretty cool that's really awesome I mean to have a established a community like that and like you said it's it's goals
5:06
everybody's got these goals and to help each other that's fabulous and I think it's less intimidating right especially
5:13
somebody it's not like you're coming in to just get because you were a a power lifter I think right I read that at some
5:18
point right well that can be intimidating you know if I'm just trying to get some flexibility or Mobility not a lifter before that like very minimal
5:26
yeah but I wanted to get into it and I mean that's a heck of a way to L get into it but I end up doing for six years
5:31
and um I don't while I don't recommend that to most people I think it definitely still taught me a lot and
5:37
yeah I'm hoping I can teach people balance and because I found a balance myself from getting out of that and trying to find a more healthy balanced
5:45
fitness health Wellness lifestyle um that helps me in my everyday life you know actually developed some hip issues
5:53
and stuff that uh had I not done powerlifting probably wouldn't have encompassed but it pushed me through
5:59
physical therapy and massage therapy and a bunch of different things that I now recommend out to people so it taugh me a
6:05
lot you just started powerlifting recently you didn't do it when you were younger than cuz you're already a young man no I started it at uh 18 or so and
6:13
then I did it till I was like 24 25 oh wow up in Ohio yeah okay well we kind of
6:18
jumped let's let's back up a little bit and learn a little bit about you guys obviously we're talking well we'll definitely come back and talk about
6:25
prology but CU I love where we're going your hearts are very similar to ours with the low country and encompassing
6:31
kind of what the lifestyle is about but let's talk about you guys tell us a little bit about you sure go ahead Scott
6:38
Scott me first absolutely uh because we started talking power lifting
6:44
Chris that I love this yeah so let's define the roles too like Scott you're
6:49
the owner and you've you started the business and all that Visionary and does
6:56
everything great kind of like him and me Chris I got you yeah thank you feel
7:03
you yeah yes I own pulseology as well as Etc um what's Etc Elite Training Center
7:10
so we have they're two completely separate entities but they work synergistically together very well in the same Plaza yeah pulseology we've
7:17
talked about is for all ages three different Studios classes equipment all that stuff for adults and then Etc is
7:24
for kids we primarily focus on ages 5 to 12 and then more private lessons up until 18 or so um Athletics being the
7:31
driving factor for those yeah wow what what gave you the concept on the whole Athletics thing actually like because
7:37
that's a because just for the record for those out there listening our son practically lives at Etc that is true he
7:45
loves it he loves it and he but his I've seen him develop I mean for a 10-year-old to have you know his body
7:53
the the control and you know the balance and all that stuff I'm blown away and I think it has a lot to do with his time
7:59
there yeah yeah no absolutely so like the focus is I have kids of my own right obviously they're there right there with
8:05
charot the whole time and there wasn't anything in this area for that so we had pulsy growing we had other health and
8:12
wellness businesses going as well and there wasn't anything in the area for specifically done well for kids
8:19
specifically um starting them young we have the five to 8-year-old classes we have the 8 to 12 classes what are the
8:25
classes exactly like what do you do small group mentality so one instructor one personal trainer for every 10 kids
8:32
once it goes past that we have multiple instructors and it's not heavy lifting or anything like that we actually rarely
8:38
use weights at all it's more about speed agility balance and control of the body so we have a lot of kids that are
8:44
highlevel travel athletes and that kind of stuff and we also have kids that they just want to do something or the parents
8:50
want them to do something or maybe they're intimidated by Sports and it's just to give them that that control or that balance or at least a healthy
8:57
mindset that they could take with them and they're in the classes as well and I believe starting them so young that
9:02
you're setting them up for this beautiful life ahead because if we can teach them how to do it properly now
9:08
right this is our mentality with both our boys let's if we do it you're going to see us do it but they're not always
9:14
going to do it because we're doing it you know what I mean so when you go to somebody a parent when you go somewhere
9:21
else and someone's telling them how to do the exercise correctly they're more inclined to do that you know and you're
9:28
giving them that amazing Foundation you know the Baseline for the rest of their lives for sure yeah more important like
9:34
said how to do it the right way yeah that's the key right there cuz the butt up in the air with the push-ups not
9:41
working yeah and I was just something from the outside that I don't know if if uh you probably know it already but
9:48
what's cool is uh I think it's a cool place that they like to come and do that kind of stuff I can ATT that's where
9:53
it's important I think a lot of times if they feel like they're forced into it or if it's you know it's kind of nice that they just like there yeah and all their
10:00
friends there and their competition I think you guys Foster this community of competition but it's a healthy
10:06
competition right you know they push each other and you can see when the text goes out that something's going on Etc
10:11
it's like they're all like hey you going you going you're going you're going and you're right it's become a hangout and I
10:18
could think of nothing better than a hangout in in which you know developing your skill sets or even just a healthy
10:25
lifestyle I mean I love seeing Shiloh cuz he's now he's more conscious with you say about um some of the yeah
10:32
Fitness and things like that and in complete transparency it wasn't even designed to be like that or wasn't
10:39
expected I thought when we were setting this up like this is necessary they should be doing this the parents be able
10:45
to tell them that they need to do this and it'll just kind of work out that way because we're providing a quality
10:50
service but what ended up happening on the flip side is once they got in there and started doing it whether we're talking about our workout classes or the
10:58
parents outs or the camps which are all sports focused dodgeball and that kind of stuff yeah both they enjoy they enjoy
11:04
it and they want to come back and they want to do it we had kids where they were doing like three or four Sports and Etc and it got to the point where the
11:11
parents were like we don't have time for all these things we have to can't do and it turn in well I'm gonna I can't get
11:16
rid of Etc I'm G to focus on these two sports and use this as my foundation for all of them that's awesome are you
11:22
thinking about making a move to the Low Country whether you're searching for the perfect home or you're exploring vibrant
11:28
communities on the coast or dreaming of a new lifestyle we're here to help contact the David Dale team today and
11:35
let's make your dream a reality plus the Epic birthday parties we have here the best Bas especially if you got boys
11:41
right well sha is already requesting that his birthday be Etc again this
11:47
perfect no they do have epic birthdays and I think what I love the most about it is you guys are so engaged with the
11:53
kids I think Matt does a really good job Conor does a really good job with
11:58
engaging and that's why the kids want to keep coming back you know so you're really doing an awesome thing for the
12:04
younger Community yeah and if we I'm wearing the state champion hat that you
12:11
host our travel team yep every Tuesday we come there and train and they went
12:16
and won the state championship so it's a testimony I think to the development of of the kids so great very yeah so not
12:23
only are you developing a community in pulseology which is the older generation as well as I know in the morning you
12:30
have younger folks that come in and then the more retirees in the afternoon but um the younger kids I mean what a an
12:36
imprint you guys are having on the island it really is it's generational you know we first Scott and I had a
12:42
conversation about um Shiloh's age group was kind of the first age group that where you guys opened up and now he's
12:49
kind of graduating to a different level right so that's got to be really cool for you guys to see their transition as
12:57
we go uh even my little bit in there it's kind of cool to not when I'm not there every day and then I do peek in
13:03
and I get to see some of these kid like the de like I notice immediately because I'm not there every day I think but to see their changes over time especially
13:09
the ones that are there often it's pretty cool yeah it is so let's get back s kind of go back to we got your
13:17
backstory now Chris what's your backstory and how did the two of you come together um so we were both walking
13:24
on the beach no I'm just kidding so no um I so originally from Ohio like
13:32
we talked about um Youngstown Ohio small City Steel City up in um about hourou
13:38
south of Cleveland um I come from a background of Country Club Fitness to be
13:44
honest with you so that was where I got my kind of start into the hospitality management uh World um there's a chain
13:50
of country clubs up there called Avalon um Avalon has I think they're up to like eight locations now but when I started
13:56
it was one or two um originally was a lifeguard and moved my way up to like their Aquatics Fitness Recreation
14:03
management um I loved the communities they got put in there I mean it was all
14:08
ages um not so much people seriously invested in lifting and exercise at that
14:14
point um but it was still where I got my start personally at the same time I was doing powerlifting um on the side even
14:21
though I was working in a completely separate environment when I went to work yeah um you know you weren't dropping
14:26
weights you weren't playing loud music you weren't doing any of that at the Country Club but when I was powerlifting complete opposite environment it was
14:32
like complete chaos did you wear those old powerlifter pants that kind of you knowt you
14:39
remember of you doing that like an old picture just put on the screen no no
14:45
crazy pant or anything I just happen to have but uh no I I did want to do it
14:52
competitively at the time I thought I was doing very very well for my body weight which is how they usually measure
14:57
that uh but um but yeah I was going to do it competitively and as I started
15:03
getting a little bit older in it and and doing it longer five or six years and I started developing a couple different um
15:09
like I mentioned a couple different things with that but it kind of pushed me towards the well um medical I guess
15:15
side of it and started get me interested in that I didn't think I would even be interested in that yeah when you're young you don't think about that at all
15:21
no so I actually looked for a while um through college I was looking at uh
15:26
possibly doing like a physical therapy or PA or otaa one of those yeah um but
15:32
um but yeah I I ended up going to um I was at Ohio State for first couple
15:37
years you ban off your own heart you can say national champs behind that if you want sorry national champs yeah yeah um
15:46
but yeah then uh switched over to Youngstown State where I finished out and uh I ended up with a degree in
15:51
Psychology but I swear it has helped me relate and oh for yeah and manage people
15:57
and understand personalities stuff so I really um I got into that and
16:03
then I don't even know how to explain how I got this next turn but I started looking into law enforcement and I was
16:08
going to be a State Trooper up there um went through the whole process and everything only to decide to kill some time when I was
16:15
on the wait list and come down here and that's how I ended up bumping to Scott oh so you just came down on a vacation
16:22
just transition a 3 to six month weight lless time for the state troopers oh wow
16:28
and then I was working at the gym uh again we're talking about Community yeah I knew while I had other couple other
16:34
jobs that might have been more more well-paying I knew working at the front desk at the gym I would meet so many
16:40
people and meet all kinds of people and help me get some connections to hopefully break into the area yeah um
16:46
and just have a good time for 3 six months till I'm waiting to get the phone call yeah um but then Co hit and delayed
16:52
all of that shut down classes for like a year yeah um so in the meantime I was here and I just grew to love ology and
16:59
what we were building there had you ever been to the area before yes yeah every
17:04
probably like most people once a year every vacation is that funny everyone from Ohio comes here for vacation but
17:10
it's always here like it's you know they don't go anywhere else they just always here they come back it's it's got to be
17:17
the nicest beach on the East like East Coast most of the East Coast I think I haven't been too many of if you like the
17:22
vibe you know what I mean cuz there's those people that that sort of Myrtle fits them and that's great we like
17:27
Myrtle but right it's as far as just a chill I like how it feels like an island still you know it's not over
17:33
commercialized it's a big fan of that so is that what Drew you here yes 100% the outside the the the outdoors this the
17:40
lifestyle just like to be outside all year round and and this is definitely the place to do that um besides the last
17:45
two days of course the once in a third year right snow that we just had I was
17:51
like it's been six days we still got snow like this is and that's not normal yeah yeah not normal everybody the first
17:56
two days were great I mean we do it southern style we go down the golf golf um Golf Course slopes on boogie boards I
18:04
mean it's perfect that's highways there's people doing
18:09
yeah a friend I saw on Facebook JT he was he was snowboarding down the uh
18:15
Bridge Crossland Bridge yeah the Cross Island Bridge stilling down the
18:21
street go that's how we do Island life good yeah for sure so
18:27
that's good okay so that's how you connected and then so uh with the pulseology I'd like to talk about that
18:33
too because it's more can I pause you for a second because we haven't really discovered Scott I mean for your
18:38
background you were in the military don't worry about I one thing I didn't know about
18:44
you was that you're an OG from Hilton Head I me you lived here and then you moved away right yeah unfortunately yeah
18:51
I I grew up on Hilton Head when I was really little yeah first grade we moved to Spartanburg grew up on a farm there
18:57
yeah and then joined the Marine Court 17 they took me up to my Summers I still came to Hilton Head for a month or two
19:03
that kind of stuff um with my aunt and uncle and yeah 17 Marine Corps took me up to Washington DC I was stationed at
19:09
aan I uh for five and a half years met my wife there went to college afterwards
19:15
at George Mason got my business degree then personal trainer in Gold's Gym World okay did that moved up into
19:22
management was head like headed towards like Regional um the side of the corporate world wasn't for me and I
19:29
could not see you in the Corp World no I yeah I like they don't do hoodies it it
19:35
was too like this is the way we're going to do it and I'm like but we could do this and it could be so much better yes so yeah so I left and did my own thing
19:41
no we uh my had my daughter at the time and that kind of changed perspective of life completely we needed to come back
19:47
south my family's here her family's in Florida looked around and Hilton Head why would you go anywhere else ended up
19:54
here and started the first business and grew it from there I love I love that story because I mean a lot of people
20:00
think coming to Hilton Head is all retirees right and with the show we've been talking about how it's not just
20:06
retirees it's families just like us just like you guys that want that lifestyle for for your children you know in the
20:13
connection yeah so when you were growing up like do you remember like like what do you remember most cuz six years
20:19
you're still kind of young I'm still a little yeah um you remember much that's young I mean I definitely remember
20:25
walking down the sidewalks to the beach and we live right going to the same Beach that my uncle live on now in kigy
20:31
and going to kigy shops when I was little then I was in was a skateboarder in high school so getting kicked out of
20:37
there do we dig deeper on that no no about the end of that just Shing yeah no
20:43
I definitely remember the the palm trees and the smell of Hilton Head and the beach that's what I wanted to it is a smell right tell us about the smell cuz
20:50
we talk about this all the time I've never said that out loud before no it's funny though because it's when I say it
20:56
to people they're like the smell I'm like it's like the I don't know I'm telling you you just know you know where
21:03
you are like when we leave and we come back like we were in h Boer for the
21:09
World Series actually uh Louisiana you know and it was cool I've never been that close to Texas we've been to
21:14
Houston I think once but when we came back and we drove from Savannah Airport and you kind of and you're like we
21:20
rolled on the window she like yes that's home you can just you do spell it it's kind of funny weird but weird I should
21:27
said at least we pulled something out
21:33
of never before so so what got you into fitness were you always in Fitness or did just like Chris
21:42
did you find it you know what what how did yeah no that started I was in the Marine Corps so business was forced upon
21:48
me whether I liked it or not right and then I got personal training certifications while I was in there to work with other Marines and that kind of
21:55
thing and that just developed over time so I I did a lot of that stuff while I
22:00
was in then I was in college I F I did a lot of boxing I started boxing
22:06
for don't mess with SK I did that I love the boxing especially one it was like
22:12
real boxing like in the ring fighting kind of thing but just the conditioning aspect of it which is what we do a lot
22:17
of over at the gym now um we have small group training classes and things like that for boxing not hitting each other
22:23
but just the bags and the conditioning side of it it's really cool yeah that was yeah that was my start between that
22:28
and then personal training and then a lot of train so did you always have a sense that that this is kind of going to
22:34
be your person um Pursuit and passion in life was to open up your own gym and did
22:40
you always have an entrepreneurial vision for yourself or where did that come from no uh I wouldn't say that it
22:46
was from the beginning like I was not that I don't love it
22:51
now the Marine Corps was what I thought I was going to do for the rest of my life um really yeah but then once I got
22:57
in and the lifestyle is not for everybody I probably would have stayed
23:03
in potentially I don't know but I was infantry so we still did the training for that as well as an honor guard so I
23:08
had back issues um L4 L5 like half the people in the military so I had to do lots of therapy at Walter read and that
23:16
was honorably but medically separated from the Marine Corps um and then the new Journey become begins after that
23:21
just like Chris I was looking at becoming a physical therapist cuz I was interested in that how do I help myself help others kind of thing yeah that's
23:28
probably what trickled into it well that's that's really neat and that's obviously why pulseology is like it is
23:34
and I think that's so critical for this area because when we talk to clients coming in we always explain to them
23:41
you're not moving here to retire and die basically not to be Roar you're moving
23:47
here to be revigor get re fired and the your business is just part of the low
23:54
country lifestyle right so that we can live that that lifestyle that we want doors the king the the golfing the
24:00
tennis so I I love that yeah yeah and to finish that the the entrepreneur side
24:06
didn't even start until even the business school was looking towards like management and that
24:11
kind of stuff and it was when I was really involved at a higher level with other organizations and saw how it's set
24:18
up which I understand how it's set up that way but it wasn't what the impact I was looking to have so that was the big
24:24
deciding factor of I'm going to get out of here I'll take my what I've learned from all this and try to do it I'm going
24:29
to call it the right way um we don't lock people in contracts we don't do yeah slimy sales tactics we provide a
24:37
quality environment with quality everything and if it fits for you great if it doesn't then that's fine too but
24:45
that's kind of we put our focus in doing what we say we're going to do versus how do we trick the next person in there
24:50
kind of thing yeah yeah and that comes across like I you get a real sense that you guys are genuine and that it is
24:57
about helping a human become whole and holistic and it isn't always driven by
25:03
the numbers and the dollars and all that it's definitely personal yes yeah it's being a part of the community 100% yeah
25:09
yeah do you dive into that CU I can see you're really touched by that's like no I'm serious um no like I said for me it
25:16
was it was personal it was very very personal I've been to a lot of physical therapists a lot of chiropractors a lot
25:21
of just seen a lot of people yeah um to try to fix my powerlifting issues that I went through MH the amount of people
25:28
people that I felt like were just trying to see me just to just to build the insurance was uh staggering and for me
25:35
as a kid growing up thinking that EV I naively I thought a lot of everyone has your best interest at heart everyone's
25:41
trying to help you and to learn that the hard way and figure out you know two three years in a chiropractic and you're
25:46
like I'm not better and I haven't improved like how do I fix this I'm
25:52
23 and they don't care yeah and they're just like you know and three times a week I was going three times a week at 2
25:58
23 years old and it's like what am I doing this for and I didn't ask myself that question for a while yeah and just
26:04
assumed it was going to get fixed and uh so it did become very personal and it became we're going to do it but we're
26:10
going to f we're going to help people we're going to genuinely fix people and give them the place to and if we can't do it be H we're honest about it you
26:17
know transparent like hey I'm not sure what else to do for you you might want to try here or there you know we're not
26:23
out you know we're not against recommending something else if it can help you go ahead go ahead I was going
26:29
to say so you do you do refer out to other businesses in in the are if you
26:34
need yeah if you need help Beyond I was just talking to someone the other day that we're talking about stuff that is so beyond what I I mean uh PRP I think
26:42
it's called or exosome and stem cell yes I was doing my own research on that with
26:47
a guy from the gym that has a doctorate in a lot of this stuff and he has his own experiences actually on a board of a
26:52
hospital down in Mexico that does stem cell so I introduced him to one of our m
26:58
members that's also trying to track down what to do at a loss of what to do and he I mean that's the cool part of the
27:04
community you know he sat down with her and helped her figure out a plan to get her shoulder fixed yeah that's
27:11
going to actually help her and not just bill her for all her Mone you know her life savings and it's so funny because I
27:17
feel like you probably felt it too I felt that you hit a point because this is really us and I think the experience
27:25
we've all had which was growing up all these um institutions and and
27:32
professions you did you thought of course they got my best interest and and
27:38
I I and not to I don't want to say it to where anybody's listening like you don't want to disrespect but you do I hit a
27:44
point one time where dawned on me like this is their business like it's their
27:49
profession like they're doctors but it's also and then because what hit me was you see all the like I'm in sales right
27:56
and I've been with sales my whole life so I've seen all the systems and then when you walk in I remember one time
28:01
when we got here there was a chiropractor and when I walked in I was like oh my gosh like I know the system
28:08
you're using like I I literally have gone through
28:13
this and I knew I was going through his process and by the time I was out of there it was he was selling me this gun
28:18
and selling me these things for my shoes and that's not to say that all Chiropractic is bad be clear cuz I found
28:25
really amazing ones I'm not going to fault them this is what I'm trying to say is I'm I'm not faulting them and I don't blame them cuz look they're trying
28:32
to make a living and that's what they do but you do realize that so you do like okay I feel like we're in a place where
28:40
some of the overarching you know mechanisms that controlled A lot of that flow of
28:45
information and process of how we do it is kind of breaking down and like you look at like the biohacking community
28:51
like uh do you know who Dave asprey is by chance I've heard the name I've heard the name he's like the greatest biohacker on the planet right this guy's
28:57
a great story um multi-millionaire uh silicon volley guy weighed like 300 lb
29:03
his blood was so thick at like 29 or 30 the doctor's like you're going to die any second and so he went on this
29:09
journey of just figuring out how this all works and all these other um Avenues
29:16
of wholeness and wellness and disciplines and it's amazing um when you
29:22
can bring it all together and I think there's a lot of people on that Quest right now that I don't want be
29:27
medication all the time I don't always have to be in there's a way to kind of care and take care of the body is what
29:33
I'm I'm getting at and I feel like you guys are to changing yeah I think so it's not a one thing it's not a one
29:39
answer to that which is what we're creating and looking for it's it's like we're not just a gym like we have three
29:46
studios in there with three different class 50 classes a week we have personal trainers they have in-house therapy we
29:55
it's us that to help with situations right that's exactly why you do it but
30:01
yeah dive into that yeah let's I mean let's peel it apart let's let's peel this what do you guys do and how do you help people sure I mean um I was just
30:09
going to say also but that that goes for the medical side of it what we were just discussing two seconds ago yeah the uh
30:16
um for me personally there ended up being no solid solution like for from one side yeah end up being the mixture
30:22
of massage Chiropractic physical therapy exercise with a trainer like and that's
30:27
what we do and that's what that's what that's why I became such a believer in our place and what we're trying to build
30:33
and when you say exercise with the trainer we can attest we have a gentleman that we train with twice a
30:38
week and we've seen huge huge results because they say you work 50% harder
30:44
when you've got somebody holding you accountable plus and that step may be a little wrong but plus you go it's a
30:50
consistency thing you know you've got this appointment you're paying somebody you better be there and work out you
30:56
know so I just and we met her before we met you so we can talk about that later
31:03
sorry I did that out are you thinking of selling your
31:10

31:16

31:21

31:27
and minimizing the time on the market so contact the David Dale team today to
31:32
learn more well plus it's on island for us it's it is a little bit EAS convenience is important like you said
31:38
it's that's why we have a whole team of trainers because that was my starting point to pulseology and all
31:44
this it started with just personal training so that's started really that was the wow yeah Foundation there yeah
31:50
when we up and left and came down here it was like quick um my daughter was 3 months old and we drove all the way from
31:57
DC to Florida for Christmas and it's like wow kids are hard this is hard our family's down here we need to move yeah
32:04
and it was on the drive back two weeks later we were in a car leaving put our house in the market wasn't sold packed
32:10
as much stuff in our car as we could left everything else I lived with my aunt and uncle the whole family in their
32:16
guest room while we started a business which was became pulseology in what was
32:21
Powerhouse Gym so it's just the personal training in there built a great team um
32:26
had other location open up did other Venture stuff with in the medical world and then eventually took over the gym
32:33
itself CU Powerhouse was going out of business and he was when he talked about his journey when he came he was front
32:40
desk with Powerhouse okay and when they closed down I had great timing took over
32:46
the gym was it a month two months before the co shut down I remember when that happened that was
32:52
worst time like horrible so that's what he said too if it wasn't for like his
33:00
actual care and interest for pulseology itself the community all that he definitely wouldn't be here because it was a hard start I didn't want to work
33:05
at a gym you didn't I wanted yeah that that to me was a little more one-dimensional compared to what I
33:11
wanted to be a part of yeah yeah but when I saw what He is building with pulseology it was like that's more all
33:17
encompassing something that I want to be instrumental in it's like you're providing a lot of
33:23
onramps and helping people where they are the because somebody may not need X
33:28
but y works and then may go with Z you know all this stuff but it's in one
33:34
place where they can yeah that's and that's why we have so many different people from so many different ways of
33:40
life and even just the training aspect along there is no cookie cutter hundreds and had hundreds of
33:45
trainers and different thousands of clients that have gone through our programs and if anyone says oh here's
33:50
your list of what you need to do that's not true like it doesn't work like that yeah and it depends on like you said
33:55
some people need it just for the consistency of it like you might know everything I've had trainers work with
34:01
other trainers just to have the consistency and the focus and form correction and all that so it has to be
34:07
tailored to the individual and it's funny so you know what I love the most is I show up I work out really hard for
34:13
an hour and I don't have to think about what I need to do I'm just for me I need that in our life it's it's a busy life
34:20
to add something else okay I got to do three sets of 10 and these exercises and change it up because you got to change
34:26
it all the time right yeah so I just love the convenience me personally
34:31
that's big thing and also how he he's he's almost as in tune to our like he'll notice stuff where we're at with you
34:38
know maybe we're we're not you know something's going on he'll be we're going to shift it up we're going to go do this over here you know it's a
34:45
totally different discipline that day you know you know what I mean where he's like as in tune to our body as we are
34:51
and constantly keeping us at Peak you know that's a power of personal training
34:56
for sure it's know to do that cuz there's a lot of trainers around and call themselves that but they are not
35:03
all created equal so so how do you CH how do you yeah that's a great Point how do you screen them in and bring them in
35:11
yeah yeah so I'm more on personality right so we have like a five tier interview process it would bring them
35:17
through and it would start with me and just a conversation of why are they even doing it CU I think that speaks volumes
35:23
like most really good trainers that continue to do it for a long time and really learn start with a personal
35:29
Journey typically whether it was weight loss or injury or something like that the driving Factor because being a
35:35
trainer is hard it's not an easy job to do it's not up it's very micro detailed you don't just hang out while you're
35:42
doing it so if you don't have that care for the person and the 30 other people that you're working with then you won't
35:49
do a good job right yeah and so I would talk to them figure out their why story
35:54
figure out their level of knowledge and even when I bring people on the team it doesn't necessarily have to be the top
36:00
tier education little component now you have to have a top certification nasm Ace I say something like that it'll show
36:07
a foundation of knowledge but then it would go into mock training sessions right because we've
36:13
also you could be the smart you could have a doctorate and be the smartest person in the room when it comes to the body and the medical but if you don't
36:19
know how to properly explain that to the client and do it in a way that they care and know what's important in that time
36:26
and how you progress over time yeah it won't work so it's it's it's getting those factors and once we find the right
36:32
person that would also embed into our vision and our team and all everyone works well together then that's kind of
36:38
what creates a good approach that's fantastic that's awesome yeah anybody listening me that should give you you
36:44
know some peace of mind of knowing that this just wasn't somebody because they were willing to show up they went
36:49
through a process yeah and always growing I love what you said about they fit into your your team you know cuz
36:56
that's the culture that you're creating and that's what leads to the ultimate gym culture right of what you're
37:02
bringing so I love that and I I I know I've said it before but I think that's such an essence of low country the
37:09
difference here living in this area than say a Charlotte or right some other City
37:14
this is that's just such a characteristic of this this lifestyle you know that's awesome so tell me about
37:22
the I I I would really love to drill down more on this specific cuz you have a wider range of things that you do and
37:29
you provide and and who who who out there are they for in the community you know is it for the moms is it for you
37:36
know I know we've got a whole wide range of clientele but tell me about the services and kind of who who would be
37:42
attracted to it sure um yeah we I mean I think it's that was for you I think it's
37:50
a little that's fine I think it's a little bit like we talked a little bit about Etc and how it has the younger crowd um at least at the gym side um I
37:57
mean and it also depends on what time of day you're there I mean you might come in the morning and it's everybody I'm
38:03
food and beverage crowd it's retirees it's it's a good mix and then there might be other times where it's 12 to 4
38:09
might be just your retirees only in older community and then uh in the evening might have 20 30 40 year and
38:16
then lots of people in all ages in classes okay um it's pretty mixed in yeah I mean our groupex schedule
38:22
consists of like body Les Mills body pump body combat Tata cabells kickboxing
38:27
slow down I'm going to have to put in like
38:33
have the editors put in you edit the captions on caption exactly um the Les
38:39
Mills let's start with it what's that what is Les Mills oh my gosh they have it's basically a brand of classes from I
38:45
believe it's New Zealand if I'm not mistaken um but today it's New Zealand it's New Zealand today um and that's the
38:52
thing we can that to yeah so
38:57
where it's from just be like fact check yeah so um yeah it's it's a brand of
39:04
classes though um and they do everything from a cycle yoga they have for their their own versions call it um so you go
39:11
anywhere in the world whether it's Europe or you're in here in the United States if you see Les Mel's body pump
39:16
it's going to be the same body pump that you took no matter where you're at okay um so it's a it's a certain standard and
39:21
a certain type of class that you you know what to expect okay and so you obviously has a lot of following so
39:26
people are looking for that they do a really good job in structuring the quality of the classes the way they're
39:32
designed and all that which is why we have them okay so it's like a top tier product correct okay yeah um Zumba
39:38
everyone I think I believe most people know what Zumba is but it's awesome uh we have tons of classes and we're actually getting ready to add a couple
39:44
more um so is that pretty popular then very can you explain to me like because I've never
39:50
had what did you say demon dance Bic
39:56
yeah like dance size but um and there's modifications to all the movements so depending on you know what we've
40:02
actually different classes I mean it all depends on the structure as well but depending on which instructor you get or
40:08
um even if you go to one that might be a little more advanced movements there's modifications to everything so there really is know hey what's a good
40:14
beginner class you can you can always get in there and you know you might not want to be near the front
40:20
but that would be me at the back I go no Co yeah but but everyone is super
40:26
friendly there's not going to be like oh my gosh like that person isn't doing right yeah everyone's super welcoming friendly and I think that's part of why
40:32
people don't come right they get nous to to a gym intimidation yeah yeah no we I think we
40:39
Foster a pretty good environment of um just everyone's welcome or at least that's the message we're trying to send
40:45
yeah um the yoga classes bar classes cycle um and pilates we do Matt Pilates
40:52
as well so again never done so Zumba is I take it that's like low impact sort of
40:59
that's the point of that Pilates I hear Pilates is pretty intense is that right
41:05
is that stretching Mobility is that what that is yeah stretching Mobility yeah
41:10
yeah it could be pretty pretty intense okay and then um bar is also pretty
41:16
pretty intense but again modifications to all these bar is you're going to have
41:23
to I I can't explain it perfectly but it's lot of pauses lot or um a lot of is
41:30
that balance a lot of balance balance like ATI we have that too of course you do we
41:37
do have touchy yeah it's a little more um int it is intense it's it can be
41:43
intense but again there's modifications to all the movements right but you'll definitely get a good workout doing bar
41:49
um at our place people think like the slower things like yogur and pilates and bar that's the easy it is not all the
41:56
classes can either be it it's as much not intimidating to where it can be modified like Chris said or if it's easy
42:02
it's just if you do it right it's not going to be as hard as you push yourself exactly yeah like anything else what you
42:08
put into is what you'll get out of it I just about to say that's what we tell these boys all the time what you put into it you're going to get out of it
42:14
you know and the classes are just like a piece of like you said we have three different studios in the gym 50
42:20
different classes throughout the week that you can be a part of different times right different times all
42:25
especially mornings and we're about had more in the afternoons we also have small group personal training was only up to eight people in its own private
42:32
room with a trainer that runs that it's more of like a hit style and that's where the boxing will be that's a piece
42:37
of it right and then we have child care to where you can drop your kids off and go do the class which is is that
42:43
membership or is that yeah we have like three different levels it's either just the gym right which 24-hour access that
42:49
would be all the equipment and all that kind of stuff which in two weeks we have all brand new equipment coming in whole
42:55
wow excellent so it's that or the club
43:00
membership which is like everything else and then there's ultimate which is the small group training too yeah and that's because you have infrared
43:08
soreness I saw that in the membership classes Child Care 24-hour access infrared saunas and massage therapist
43:16
that's not included sep separate service but yeah and our massage therapist phenomenal um
43:22
that's going to a yeah go ahead sorry go ahead oh no no it's okay I just want to talk a little bit about her cuz we are
43:27
currently trying to get build her book she's new with us but she's not new to massage therapy okay she's been in
43:32
massage therapy for 23 years though and she uh was a nurse for 36 years okay so
43:37
she is extremely experienced with the medical side as well as um you know for someone like me like I was mentioning
43:43
the things I was trying to solve with my hip and low back shoulder uh she's like
43:49
Been instrumental in my recovery Mobility yeah um so yeah I don't think
43:54
people put enough weight on M mes I mean we can tell when our body's ready for
44:00
one I mean like every month if you don't do it the body's aching I think to be
44:05
but it's just for relaxation no not at all well we actually go to one now and she does um ACU pressure ACU pressure
44:12
pressure massage and you know and I mean obviously you want to massage be like oh it feels good but like when she gets you
44:19
and she hits a spot it hurts like at first but then all of a sudden you feel like like it'll be a release down in leg
44:27
that you didn't even know was there and you're like oh my gosh and she she can just pick it up and be like oh you know
44:33
this is going on and she'll go up over here and 100% yeah Y and I think having that medical background is so important
44:40
because there's so many veins and vessels that need to be um massaged I
44:46
guess made loose so we can move for sure we're real T I know I trying to find my
44:53
words but we're into all this stuff you know we have such a passion for holistic wcare if you couldn't tell we light up
44:59
with that because like you guys I mean I think when we moved here as a younger couple it really gave us a vision of the
45:07
future of kind of where you go I think when you're in a young City you don't really think about aging but when we
45:12
moved here we're like okay it's we have to take care of ourselves if we want that longevity want that wellness and
45:19
diving into it there's so much on the island that you can do to be preventative to give you longevity and
45:25
that's what I think I love about what guys are doing cuz the massage is a huge part of it infrared we haven't even
45:31
started talking about the infrared SAA how great that is too you know yeah it's all um it's all super important I think
45:38
again getting back to like a you want to do a little bit of everything there's um forget the same but yeah you want to do
45:44
a little bit of everything to have that best uh outcome I think and the best um
45:49
lifestyle you to get the lifestyle you're trying to achieve that's right that's exctly moderation that's why we
45:55
Circle back to quality of life because like you said it's that's becoming a more popular idea is
46:02
to prevent these problems start that lifestyle start doing these things and building that foundation so you age
46:08
gracefully or whatever you want to say um to keep doing the same things that you're doing but otherwise you wait for there to be a big problem hopefully
46:15
recover from that problem and then try to do it and it's it doesn't work as well it's just too late at that point
46:21
hon you don't make time for it now you'll have to later exactly that's exactly right and why are you not enjoying the time now right you know
46:29
versus always working on it later to enjoy time I mean de and I talk about it all the time I would rather spend a ton
46:35
of money up front now than on medications later where I'm not enjoying life period I'm just trying to stay
46:42
alive we here I don't want to just be alive to be alive right you know what I
46:47
mean I don't want to just sit there and be like hey I'm 89 but I'm just sitting there all day long I you know like we
46:54
play tennis with people in their 80s I play tennis with two guys one was 77 one
46:59
was 81 and they're kicking the SN out of me on the tennis court that's what I want to be right there I could make a
47:04
comment but I'm not going to say anything it's not real hard to kick the S out of sorry I'm teasing he's actually pretty
47:12
good no it's points well taken though I mean that's part of the cool thing about this community I mean you got all ages
47:18
playing pickle ball and tennis and all I mean I think the area attracts I I think that's would you find that too with your
47:25
clientele that that they have that mindset that like an active mindset yeah
47:31
of course I think that like you said that's they're here for a reason right you can sit inside wherever you came
47:36
from but people are here because it's like-minded it's that let's stay active whether it's like you said tennis or
47:42
pickleball or whatever golf obviously when you said golf that's a huge here but yeah it's it's that mindset they
47:47
want to keep doing for sure yeah amen yeah so talk to me a little bit about do
47:53
you guys because I I went into this biohacking thing are you guys into that at all the those movements are you some
48:00
somewhat yeah still doing a lot of um research and looking and stuff but um
48:06
Andrew huberman I if you know listen know him but I listen to his stuff often and yeah still still learning and and
48:12
diving into a lot of that stuff so where do you see like technology and and you know because we're moving into this
48:19
world where Fields like you got Ai and you got a lot of stuff people you know
48:24
looking at the body studying things you got food you got nutrition you got all these things where do you see you know
48:31
pulseology in that messaging on on you know bringing that to people and where do you see technology impacting us um
48:39
going forward do you see anything on the horizon with that sure um yeah I'll take
48:44
it sure uh from the technology side I'm pulseology is always growing right we're
48:50
going to be expanding out we're looking for that anything that can make the experience in pulseology or the member
48:55
base better depending on like what it is we're always looking so I'm never going to say no to anything the from the
49:01
technology standpoint we have a fit 3D which does threedimensional Shadow Imaging partial analysis and weight just
49:07
like all these metrics that is free for every new member that comes in so we do like initial consults see what's your
49:13
goal what are you trying to do how can we help let's do this it shows a good Baseline good luck what is it what is it
49:19
what is it break that down a little never heard what is the fit 3D you do they stand in something sure so you
49:24
stand on like a platform and you hold the handles and it has all the tablet in front of you you put make your own profile so every profile is special to
49:31
just you so if you do it again in 3 months or 6 months it'll do data overlay and it takes 30 seconds you stand on it
49:38
it circles you around it does all the cool Imaging and it's not just the data of body fat and all that kind of stuff
49:44
it does 450 laser measurements so exact left and right bicep differentials and
49:50
things like that to show muscular imbalances we use this with personal training a lot right so it goes good like I think what I'm doing is working
49:57
is it you know that kind of stuff um and what I like best about that versus other ones is the three-dimensional Shadow all
50:04
right so it's like on your profile it three-dimensionally shows how you look and then when you do it again it'll
50:09
overlap them and show the you can actually see the change in in your body
50:15
that's awesome wow yep so we have that we utilize that we have our custom app so you can sign your profile up you can
50:21
access your scanner card if you lost the one off your key to scan into the front door or inside the gym yeah we use that
50:27
for all of our classes so you pick what's the schedule and you can see it pick the class that I'm trying to go to
50:33
and then it even opens up an outline of or layout of the gym floor or the studio
50:39
floor and has them all numbered which we have in the in the class itself so pick
50:44
your spot so if you're trying to hide in the back like you're saying you that yeah no peeking through the window
50:50
trying to figure out can I fit over there it's all set up that's a big J problem cuz people they like have that
50:56
cluster they get to the door it opens up and run in to get your spot now it's you book your spot so that's really cool so
51:01
you're booking your spot in the studio so what happens if someone stands in my spot that I booked we kick them out no
51:09
we don't we don't have that issue everyone knows so everyone is respectful right part of the community it's
51:14
understood um a lot of especially that class culture they all understand and know each other that kind of thing and
51:20
it's a good with other like Studios um a lot of times you're going there just for
51:26
that one modality right whether it's yoga or span or whatever it is which I'm not saying everything's good we believe
51:31
more in a variety right whether it's personal training it's not establishing muscle memories we're switching up what we do same with the classes you can have
51:38
I like Zumba class that's great I burn calories that kind of thing but it's being able to flop around and do other
51:44
things as well to have that full impact on the body and what happens is they come here with the comfort zone of
51:50
classes and after they're here and they see other people and they start talking and then they venture out maybe it's
51:56
with help from trainers or on their own or other friends then they venture out and start doing like the strength training stuff to keep the body strong
52:02
and the comfortable atmosphere you've already developing relationships which is super cool to see
52:09
yeah do you feel like that is that like something that um because you know I've been in a lot of gyms and that's not
52:15
always the case and I give an example I mean a certain purple gym that's
52:22
everywhere but it is definitely more transactional it feels like it sounds to me like yours is more truly a community
52:29
100% yeah is that organic or is that coming from just your passion 100% And
52:34
to be honest with you we again without yeah we we hear that every day um that that's one of the biggest differences in
52:40
our club versus others um but we really build that we're big on that Community
52:46
aspect for sure and we are really here for you no matter what your needs are I don't think you can force that either
52:51
you can't like force that into your business model it's it's real it's the way like we don't I just going of say I
52:57
think big part of that is in our gym too we don't have salese no one has
53:03
commissions there is no goal metrics that you have to hit we all of our focus goes on on what are we creating for the
53:09
community what's where's there in need how do we fill that need and we go from there you do that well by well and I was
53:16
just about to say can I give you some Kudos because speaking exactly to that I
53:21
mean Scott and I started talking about homeschooling right when we homeschooled Shiloh for a while and U another mom and
53:28
I were like we need to add physical fitness into their school um curriculum who was the first person I called and I
53:36
stole your idea and ran with it not even that I love serve the community exactly
53:42
there that's the difference is like you you do s and what I love is you are like in our baseball Community like you're
53:48
part of you're a part of our community like it's very much a part of it so it is it's different you do serve a part
53:55
you do serve the community very well you don't quite get always on maybe a national brand like you said that's more
54:01
corporate which is fine it has its role but that's what I love like why you're here it's like yeah this is this area is
54:08
a community you know and it's a it's for me it's the neest community I've ever been part of personally but I think you
54:14
guys fill that role really well yeah with that and in their defense that's like big business across multiple
54:20
different areas how do you fix it we the only thing we care about is what's going on in Hilton Head and bluon maybe coming
54:27
in what did what does this area need and how can we help that yeah I agree that's
54:32
good that's exciting it is very exciting so I I want to hear some um success
54:37
stories you got any got any stories that you want to share that about somebody who may be came in in a really rough
54:45
place and they've journeyed you've journeyed with them jeez um you got this
54:51
one heard I know we got lots good yeah I was going to say Inspire somebody out
54:57
there yeah someone who's who's looking who's new looking wants to get connected um well the first thing I'll
55:03
lead with is um literally any age you are there is no too old uh let me start
55:09
with that no matter how old you are I have seen everyone including up to at
55:14
this point I'll let you know if it goes higher but 96 uh completely changed their quality of life based off of their
55:20
routine exercise and Community though and social environment that stuff's important well it's holistic though
55:25
right right that might be just as important as the actual exercise itself exactly yeah the
55:32
mental health I have my own personal like crusade to figure out why certain people seem to do so well longer than
55:40
others yeah um and what I've noticed is you have to have purpose you have to have social relationship you have to
55:46
have that social aspect and you have to keep moving and and stay exercising and
55:52
this every single person that I've met that's doing well past the normal age that most people start to um falter a
55:59
little bit yeah they're all doing those things and they're doing them well and um you know I have 96-year-old uh lady
56:06
named Jackie who uh she just had a birthday actually her birthday is coming up in this September she'll be 97 wow
56:12
she is comes three times a week she rides the bike she talks to us lets her know lets us know she actually works on
56:18
her HOA board still um very active yeah successful lifestyle and she actually
56:24
didn't retire till she was 89 by the way that's outstanding um yeah so she's doing phenomenal um see it's possible I
56:32
think those stories are so key for people to know in their 65s just retired now what I do with my life okay that's
56:39
just the beginning of this other half really right you know and I think when you retire there is this like
56:45
expectation that okay I'm did it I get to sit and like hang out and do nothing and I think that's probably the worst thing you could do and that's what we
56:51
tell our clients all the timeing sit around and head to the bar every day yeah because I know being here that's
56:59
one thing you do like to drink a little bit more it's part of the lifestyle but you're you're right
57:04
because that'll that'll send you down here quicker than anything else 100% yeah yeah yeah so you got any other ones
57:10
to share with us that was awesome um I mean just the other day I was talking to
57:16
um opposite end of the spectrum an eight 17 18y old that's down currently 73
57:22
pounds wow um and he actually just entered our transformation challenge we're doing um we just have our second
57:27
wave coming up February 8th tell us about the transformation challenge this is some breaking news something else if
57:33
I could add you guys are really good at is being part of the community so these challenges andk coming up which we want
57:41
to talk about talk about some of that what's this transform what is that well uh this is what the third or fourth year
57:47
we're doing it um and it's all ages we have a very small um sign up fee to just
57:55
to get you involved and make you accountable that you you know you got skin in the game yeah skin in the game
58:00
exactly um you know uh but we have I don't know we've probably had 100 in the
58:06
one last year 100 people sign up for the one last year and it's cool because you
58:11
get to see um
58:16
um I'm sorry for they won't see
58:22
that find your W and we just start again well you're talking about the challeng the transformation challenge CU did you
58:29
ever hear the Body for Life back in the day Bill Phillips Bill Phillips Body for Life Life no oh you are guys are way
58:36
younger than us you're making me feel old it was a cool thing though so it's this guy Bill Phillips he started a
58:41
company called EAS which was a supplement company bodybuilder guy but he was like this got he went from
58:47
powerlifting to everybody can do this and he created a thing called the Body for Life challenge where he gave you a
58:53
daily breakdown of what to do you know food had a whole thing but he would send
58:58
out these videos and they were very inspirational yeah and I did it and and I did it from home and but now this was
59:05
the 90s when you had VHS tapes right and DVDs I don't know what you're talking
59:11
about you do know we went to Blockbuster girlfriend you guys don't
59:17
know I I barely made that so anyways I wonder if it's something cuz I I'll tell
59:23
you tell us about the challenge challenge itself um we have everyone
59:28
gets to meet with actually Scott um for Fitness consultation to get a kind of a use our fit 3D machine get your starting
59:35
measurements and uh before photos Okay and um and that uh we definitely also
59:40
don't just basic on base it on body fat so just because you lost you know more body fat than the next person doesn't
59:47
necessarily mean that you'll have the biggest overall transformation um so is it on a percentage based on a a loss
59:52
percentage or percentages um what would you say photo it's everything
59:59
so yeah what we've done with the transformation it's changed every single year okay um it's transformed it's
1:00:05
it's great it's a transforming transformation yes um I don't even I
1:00:10
think you probably know this with Matt um I started with these transformation challenges with that other organization
1:00:16
up north and did them on a larger scale uh for many years Matt was when I was a
1:00:21
fitness director Matt was my assistant and we would work on these projects together and then we came down here I we
1:00:26
started pulsy and built that over 5 years Matt had taken my job and now he came down and runs the fitness
1:00:32
Department although a lot of the kid stuff and all that yeah we've taken some of the modalities and ways that we did
1:00:38
it there and implement it into our and transformation challenges for instance this year we split it up we have two
1:00:44
winners one male one female all right so even playing fields whatever we have a $2,000 value prize for each all right
1:00:52
for whoever the winner is and it's broken up into $500 cash $500 for personal training $500 to
1:00:59
healthy habits one of our like partners partners in the air community and then $500 towards metabolic nutrition
1:01:06
supplements which we offer in that so the idea is whoever wins congratulations on your op awesome transformation let's
1:01:12
utilize these this winnings and all this stuff to continue that Journey oh wow yeah the winners we do for everyone that
1:01:18
signs up we do a fit 3D scan what's your starting line your Baseline we do
1:01:24
Fitness consultations for an hour or whatever it takes uh with myself or Matt fitness director to ask any kind of
1:01:30
questions or what do I do in the gym I'm brand new whatever it is if you want personal training we have lots of
1:01:35
programs to set that up or just pick our brains right we have dietitians on have that we set up and depending on who it
1:01:41
is that we'd meet with them like 20 minutes just a little bit of quick um nutritional advice and then also
1:01:47
handouts for that and yeah then we just kind of hit the ground running with those how long is it like how long does
1:01:53
IT program eight weeks Okay so and then then based on their pictures how much they've lost is how you determine
1:02:00
everything we'll narrow it down to five for each one and then take that to an out outside party some other people in
1:02:07
the gym they're doing their own excise right they're doing their own program you're not setting that up when that
1:02:13
starting some do it on their own some do programs with us yeah okay okay sorry
1:02:18
now when is that is that happening now or is you said starting in February the first wave launched January 18th and
1:02:25
then the second wave will launch February 8th okay we doing a wave different story time each have their
1:02:30
okay and you do that every year yep so far next year it will transform
1:02:36
transform it will cuz by the time it airs we'll have to wait for the next one
1:02:41
to do it so and then I saw something on the website about 5k you got coming up I
1:02:47
know it's near and near to your heart or the golden egg golden egg you want to tell us a little bit about that too cuz
1:02:52
we'll definitely this will be air before that yeah it'll be yeah perfect um so we want people to come
1:02:58
out so when you're talking about like our Outreach to the community another branch of that that we're working on
1:03:04
yeah is doing 5Ks or more so focused towards like family events so it's not
1:03:09
just a 5k where the extreme Runners are out there there there are some that but we're wanting to really cater towards
1:03:16
families so one specifically that we're doing what is it this year April 6th
1:03:21
that's Saturday um it's set up for that we're about to put all the pliers out and everything and we'll put a flyer up
1:03:26
for everybody it'll be on Buck Walter so we have 5K component of that they'll be
1:03:32
the timers and the Arches and come through the bibs everyone had their bibs and it'll be like legitimate 5K it'll go
1:03:39
on the road it'll sum through trails in the woods so it's pretty awesome it's golden egg so it's themed around Easter
1:03:46
right we'll have a lot of kids there we'll do it's in that big circle uh out there so we'll do Easter egg Huns with
1:03:51
golden eggs with baskets we'll give away we'll have other tents and sponsors that'll have events and things
1:03:58
around the around the circle and we'll also have bouncy houses all set up there we had like four or five last year I
1:04:03
think we have a couple this year um we'll have the Easter Bunny there so the little kids we do like a catch the bunny run around the whole thing so a lot of
1:04:10
different things it's again ker towards the F face painting it's always a popular one that it's not just there to
1:04:16
run you can do that you can have a good time with your your kids or even walk the whole thing Grayson did it last year
1:04:21
so the kids are going to be part of the 5K right so they can walk run walk run
1:04:27
with their family yeah we're really trying to push that too it's not just there well I can't run the whole thing oh let's start wherever you can let's
1:04:33
walk the whole thing do it with your family do it with your 5-year-old yeah that kind of stuff do it with Shiloh see
1:04:38
who wins what's fun oh you do know he'll be sprinting that well yeah don't don't give sh
1:04:44
competition um I was already thinking I was like well we're likely going to be on the baseball weekend that we yeah
1:04:50
think travel ball I'm just entered that world now so ohc welcome
1:04:56
I got it springing is a busy time Riley does competitive dance so between doing that both starting softball now and
1:05:03
Grayson doing travel baseball it's going to be busy but you know what though it
1:05:09
everybody yeah everybody would tell us in the beginning oh my gosh it's such a commitment but you know what it's the
1:05:15
greatest I tell you I think it's a gift you give them because they learn about this teamwork camaraderie and The Dugout
1:05:22
they learn about winning losing they the commitment the the hustle working hard if you work hard
1:05:28
you'll see the results you know there's so so many disciplines it teaches them the teamwork side of things Community I
1:05:35
mean just spend so much time with these people and you do you become close and
1:05:41
it's a family yeah it's just it's it's amazing you know I'm like I'm grateful
1:05:47
especially moving to another area you know so but talk about I love every
1:05:52
moment of it so let's let's actually let's shift gears from the business and just talk about your lives here in the
1:05:58
Low Country personally like what I obviously you were here just a short period of time you weren't from here but
1:06:05
you you're both here now what do you love what do you love to do where do you go and play where do you go and eat you
1:06:11
know what are your things that you get in and do here and just share from that perspective a little bit um well if I
1:06:19
start I mean I I spend most weekends uh assuming it's not snowing yes uh at the beach um usually Saturday Sunday
1:06:26
mornings I'll take breakfast and literally go either walk or sit at the beach um what's your favorite
1:06:33
Beach I can't disclose that then people come find you people come yeah it's
1:06:39
taking a long time to figure out where I like to go so do you like to go away from the crowds I'm assuming it's away
1:06:45
from the crowds yeah I mean you're always around people I mean everyone's walking riding their bikes in the morning especially um but it's my
1:06:51
favorite time to be there the morning is amazing um so that's what I like to spend my time doing on the weekends I
1:06:57
usually like to start my day like that cuz you get in the sun you're exercise you're walking down the beat you're just
1:07:03
getting your mind and moving the sunr on our beach are the best aren like is
1:07:09
amazing just I love getting out there when it's still dark yep and just it's
1:07:14
the best they say that vibration helps your body as well that's why we love it so much the vibration of the sun coming
1:07:20
up is affecting you and the frequency yeah of it that's why we love it so
1:07:25
right still not going to tell us where that spot's at to the beach early morning we won't push it I signed an NDA
1:07:31
to get access yeah all right I'm GNA track you down I'm gonna find you that's
1:07:37
funny so then what other activities do you like to do um well I guess like I said for me personally I loved being
1:07:43
outside year round um that was one of my biggest drawbacks and things I didn't like about the north yeah um being up in
1:07:50
the north I mean I think I looked it up the other day um if you didn't know I think it's 90 days of sunshine you get
1:07:56
if you're in the North Ohio where you were you were sort of in that snow belt
1:08:02
too like I was just south of the snow Bubble we get Lake Effect yeah the lake effect I mean it's just horrible the
1:08:07
gray skies and I will never forget we live there in Columbus for 10 years and
1:08:13
so you know I'm from Zimbabwe Africa which is blue blue sunny all the time it's very similar to this climate then I
1:08:21
move came here to South Carolina for University I played tennis um for University and then he took me up North
1:08:28
for 10 years that first 3 years I struggled I literally had that
1:08:33
depression from that heavy heavy Cloud it was just awful so yes and I think
1:08:38
that the length of time yes cuz up there it's literally like late September to
1:08:44
really like almost June yeah it is it is it really is it doesn't start getting better till at the ear yeah earliest May
1:08:51
yeah it's like cuz we have snow in April I mean it's it's crazy it is crazy and I think I got really tired of only feeling
1:08:58
that good for that week I'd be down here I'm like how do I like live this way like yeah how do I live a more full life
1:09:05
that way too because when you're able to go outside you're around go sit outside and have something to eat outside I mean
1:09:10
it's it really as nice it's you don't feel like you're you're trapped inside half the year um watching Netflix get
1:09:16
out and actually see people and talk and I think that's part of that longevity Factor we're talking
1:09:22
about and the vitamin D you need it um you vitamin D not vitamin vitamin D
1:09:30
proper but yeah I mean that's at least for me that's what I just really so it's pretty simple love being
1:09:36
outside pretty simple guy where do you like to what are your favorite places to go and eat go have a drink go listen to
1:09:41
live music Hudson's Shameless PL Hudson's outside on the dock um they have a little bar outside on the dock is
1:09:48
food's never disappointed me once uh they always have fresh seafood um and
1:09:53
the view is is awesome yeah a lot SC we practically live down we live dark
1:09:59
side it's beautiful whole stress um and I like getting all my I actually do a lot of cooking myself too and I get all
1:10:06
my fresh seafood from Benny Hudson seafood market uh the little market right right outside uh yeah isn't it
1:10:12
nicer it's bigger than just a walkway now it's a nice big store they did a job
1:10:18
beautiful now I love that Rooftop Bar it's really nice up there for sure yeah yeah the rooftop bar is beautiful They
1:10:23
just added yeah yeah it's good Scott what about you outside of all the million things
1:10:29
you do running a business got kids travel what do you do for you uh my weekends consist of whatever the kids
1:10:39
have right yeah no which I wouldn't change yeah that's 100% what I would
1:10:44
enjoy and want to do it's it's we either have baseball practice or softball practice
1:10:51
or Dance convention or just something it's something along those lines and if it's not that we'd love going to my knle
1:10:58
have a house on Hilton Head Right on down from kigy we'll go crash their place walk to their Beach bring the sand
1:11:04
back to their house eat their food drink their wine and leave so it's perfect I mean what more could you yeah no that's
1:11:11
it's great and that's where Chris Parks and walks down so that's the beach that he was talking about told you we'd find
1:11:18
out that's where he'll be um it's going out to the whole world now this is everywhere going be like drones flying
1:11:24
overhead out try to figure out there's an even better one more private I'll tell you later off camera
1:11:31
okay speaking on a spot I'll tell you okay we went to the shark I forget the
1:11:38
name it's probably a bad opening but the the shark they call like shark tooth Beach yeah you know what I'm talking
1:11:44
about it's a hunting is it a Hunting Island I think it is that was awesome
1:11:50
it's small little STP but went there with the kids and found think we had like 70 shark teeth the first time we
1:11:55
went there I mean the little baby on Hunting Island is like have you been hunting Island not yet I if you want
1:12:04
private quiet that's where you go it is awesome the one thing I will say is uh
1:12:09
Mitchellville Beach or or ship I don't even know what they call it is it sea orish
1:12:15
Mitch we go that's where we take the dogs yeah I I was going to say it's an awesome beach to if you just want to go
1:12:22
sit and watch the the sunset or the sunrise or something I mean it's beautiful it is one of those two places
1:12:27
where it is you can get both sunset and sunrise from the same Beach and you actually feel like
1:12:32
you're uh on the island like you know some of the beaches as they're getting busier like K is it's getting more
1:12:38
popular yeah if you go to Mitchellville or fish Hall it's really it feels like you're still there you're on that island
1:12:44
yeah it's pretty cool yeah it is have you guys ever like Ru your bike or taking the kids out to
1:12:50
um pikney thank you P to the beach out there have you ever been to that bow Point Beach I promise you it is so worth
1:12:59
it's right at the end of Pitney and it just opens up you come out of the trees you have to ride your bike down there CU
1:13:04
it's quite far and we put up a hammock between the trees and you just see the boats going by this private beach
1:13:10
telling you don't hear a vehicle you don't hear a person all you hear is the lapping of the Waves maybe a boat but
1:13:16
you're just literally at the very tip of Pik looking across from Paris Island wow and it's just rustic it's just this wide
1:13:24
open Beach right there it's looking at Paris Highland huh I don't know great
1:13:32
times for me I mean whatever I don't know what's going on over there but I'm
1:13:38
here you but honestly with the kiddos that would be that would be a good place to take them because it's so it's rustic
1:13:44
it really is just not now once this airs it's going
1:13:51
to be packed yeah I know right I don't know it's quite a ways people may not want to take hike that it is actually have to bike
1:13:58
right bike ride so restaurants what are your some of your favorite restaurants H
1:14:04
we go to I like the Pearl a lot if we're talking about like bluon what was dispensary changed to what is it now the
1:14:12
it was dispensary in bluon Agave Agave I like that the outdoor seating area and
1:14:18
that kind of stuff it's really fun with the kids again it has to be like kid-friendly we're we're always yeah you're in that world funny the two
1:14:23
different worlds nice and quiet you're like what's that like yeah literally get
1:14:29
clients that come in and be like we don't want to be anywhere near your kids I mean they literally we don't want kids
1:14:35
anywhere yeah no and then um what's up crazy crab I like that one cuz that's a
1:14:40
playground so the kids can go down there and yeah leave us alone for a little bit right about do side yeah he do side's
1:14:47
famous for that just you put a put a little apple watch on them and then run
1:14:52
around let go or you could drop them off at parents night out Friday night how do you do
1:14:59
parent night that's a good that's a good point we didn't even talk about parents night out cuz that's an awesome we love
1:15:04
we didn't even talk about camps so talk about that par night when how often is that just Elite Training Center it
1:15:09
depends on like holidays so it's not like set but we're typically doing like every other weekend now okay um it's
1:15:15
Friday nights 5:30 to 8 it's all active fun as we call it so it's going to be dodgeball indoor soccer capture the flat
1:15:21
I don't know something ages 5 to 12 and like this Friday we have dodgeball
1:15:28
championships we'll do different themes sometimes where it's football tournament or dodgeball Champion Nerf gun wars is a
1:15:35
fun one not fun to clean up but fun to play well that's where you make the kids clean up to teach the disci learn to do
1:15:42
that yes hey you just need a couple moms to give you some ideas on that after the
1:15:49
first one we learned all right how do we get them to do it yeah yeah out they just make it a competition who whoever
1:15:55
brings back the most bullets gets PR that's what Matt does is that what he does okay I love Matt I love Matt's
1:16:01
personality he's like perfect you say that again like
1:16:06
perfect that's he's just playing right there with him right I
1:16:12
know I agree we'll tell him hey I was going to ask you I'm G to
1:16:17
kind of go divert back because it just made me think of it uh for some random reason have you guys ever heard of like
1:16:23
energy work with like machines for as another modality for healing that so
1:16:30
I'll give you an example there's this machine uh it's called no well this this one I'm talking about it's called a
1:16:36
biocharger okay it actually was um a friend of mine who invented it he was really big in Nia Tesla and it was they
1:16:44
called it the Tesla machine when I was a kid but basically it's this machine and
1:16:49
it works on light frequency and sound frequency and all this other stuff um
1:16:55
I'm not real technical but it's a machine you sit in the center of a room and and professional sports teams are
1:17:01
using it where the it put your athletes around it and if you're in a vicinity of it it emits these healing frequencies
1:17:10
because you know we're made up of water and there's a lot of things going on and it literally you can tune it for your
1:17:15
organs for at a cellular level to where it harmonizes cells and and and have you
1:17:22
ever heard of anything like that is this is you mentioned harmonic egg I've heard this is different
1:17:28
harmonic lines similar harmonic egg uses uh sound and light actually U they're
1:17:35
going to be our third episode um release but yeah they um you sit inside of it
1:17:41
and it's a it's a g um what sacred geometry yeah oh you talk about the
1:17:46
harmonic now so that's a different one it was in Blu and they just moved to the Buford where you sit in like a zero gravity chair and they have um they
1:17:55
create their own music specifically like it's very on purpose as far as what
1:18:01
instruments they use and the frequencies they you and how they put it together and then echoes in this chamber and use
1:18:09
light and it it like it harmonizes harmonizes your body I mean have you
1:18:14
guys ever heard anything like that or is that anything not that specific one but I mean the sound healing frequency has
1:18:21
been around for a long time um and that's coming I think it's because of the whole like new approach towards
1:18:27
health and wellness and that everyone's focused on it which is great and yes definitely I'm hearing a lot about it not that one specifically yeah um well
1:18:34
this bio in charge it'd be something you to you got to look into because it I'm actually thinking about getting one
1:18:39
because it's um like I said major sports teams are using it now and they're finding that these guys who have these
1:18:45
injuries they're going through their physical therapy and they're sitting them in the room and they're cutting their healing time down like weeks like
1:18:53
literally what used to take like you know an 8 10 12 14 week injury is being cut in half because they sit in they
1:19:00
just sit around it and it it like heals their body internally wow definitely look at that something else to add to
1:19:07
them the men you just strike me as somebody who's forward thinking like that right like I said we would
1:19:13
definitely we're there's other things we're looking to bring on and this in space is hard right it is
1:19:20
but love to look into red light therapy loveed
1:19:25
I bought him a gold plunge for his birthday that was February last year how many times is he is it zero he's too
1:19:31
scared for the call could been episode one why listen man when she bought it for me
1:19:38
I was like I love you you should have asked me first though because like this dude doesn't do cold at all like I left
1:19:43
the cold I don't want anything to do with the cold I thought even just for healing you know because he was sore
1:19:49
after working out and I'm like just caught plunge I got to admit I have never caught plunged I'm just SC you guys if you like to resell definitely do
1:19:56
it I'll take it that's what you're saying I'll trade you for some advertising
1:20:03
done it's awesome no I you know well like Tony rob you know Tony Rob he's got
1:20:09
one in his house that that he does and he jumps in every morning it's got to be like 14 feet deep to fit him um but um I
1:20:16
think about it all the time but I'm just like the thought like who jumps in a lot of people
1:20:22
do I I mean I don't do it regularly but I've done it before um and I would like to do it regularly but again it's it's
1:20:29
uh I'm trying to figure out in my th foot condo where that but I'm planning on doing it yeah yeah well he did say to
1:20:36
me why do I need a tub just fill up the actual boss tub and put ice cub in it put together and I'm like what do you do
1:20:42
you put it together you fill it up with water and drop ice I'm like it's called a bathtub like what do I me to buy
1:20:50
thisal for too anyway we digress you
